In which I show my marketing fangirl side.
I have never hidden my love for Tom Fishburne‘s ideas. He writes a fantastic, hilarious cartoon about marketing, business and innovation. In other words, right in my wheelhouse.
New Directions Consulting has been licensing his cartoons for our newsletter for the past few months (we also feature several cartoons on our website). However, this month, we couldn’t find one that fit perfectly. So I wrote to Tom’s wife Tallie (who handles licensing) and she told me that he didn’t have one on the topic we wanted, but was intrigued. (I intrigued Tom Fishburne!)
And then, last night, his newsletter came through my inbox with a cartoon that I helped inspire. I clicked over to his blog (same link as above) and my name was right at the start of the entry! (And if you find me via that mention, welcome and I hope you stick around a while!) Then I fainted. The end.
But not really. First I googled myself to make sure I still own my first few pages. (Check.) Then I wrote this post. Then I fainted. The end.
But not really again, because I need to make it clear that the topic was MOM’S IDEA. The zombie ideas that come back from the trash bin every few years, even though they are NEVER going to succeed exist within every organization. So read the cartoon. Read the blog post. Laugh. Then go kill those zombie ideas so you can have a fresh new one.
Now excuse me, I have to go faint.
