We worked on the castle cake Friday night to make sure it was finished. (We meaning that I did the work, while Emily applauded and Jonathan offered suggestions and broke some of the ice cream cone turrets.)
This is the fondant Princess who lives in the castle.
The look on Abby’s face when she saw it was just priceless.
She couldn’t even stand still. Which is why I couldn’t get a clear shot of her.
Saturday afternoon was Princess Abbalina Ballerina’s Royal Birthday Tea Party.
5 other princess attended the VERY fancy party and a good time was had by all.
The girls really got into the princess theme (I’m sure you’re surprised) and made crowns, played games and used their very best Princess Manners during the tea party portion of the afternoon.
After the tea party guests went home, some other friends came over (well, John, Elaine and Cecilia stayed) and we had a great time eating turkey chili, drinking too much wine and playing games. The final score in Team Uno was not pretty. For the other team.
Abby and Cecilia made sure to sample my homemade vanilla bean ice cream (which I forgot to serve at the birthday party).
It was a fantastic day and her birthday yesterday was also one for the books. She got to bring cupcakes to school and everyone told her happy birthday. Dinner was chicken nuggets and french fries (with oranges as the “vegetable”) and ice cream cake for dessert. Then she got a chance to Skype with Grandma and Bapa while she opened her stack of presents.
I wish I was 3 again.

Great work on the cake, Missy – it looks beautiful, and you’re right, seeing her face in the next photo really brings home what a wonderful gift it was. Having been to a few princess parties myself, that one looks pretty grand!
