It’s like this all the time now

Every spring I run into the same little “problem.” With a strong desire to just DO something already after a long, cold winter, and an overabundance of potential projects falling into my lap, I start saying, “Yes!” To lots and lots of stuff. I once made the mistake of telling a life coach that I often feel like I’m just left of where I’m supposed to be at any given moment. And she accused me of doing too much stuff. The nerve!

I am one of those people who thrives on DOING things, and GETTING THINGS DONE. So chances are, if you call me up and ask me to be on your committee or lead your project or give my opinion, my answer’s gonna be “Yeah, sure!” Maybe I shouldn’t have told you that.

It all comes down to some bizarre personality defect I have. I’m a classic Ideator. I like the fresh, new start of projects. I like the thrill of coming up with bajillions of ideas. I truly enjoy helping people out and bringing my (very) unique perspective to the table. And so long as I’m on a team with some actual Implementers, we have a shot at getting things done.

So in the past two weeks, I have agreed to…

  • Help with the e-marketing for the CPSI again. (And PS, I’ll be leading a session this year, go me!)
  • Take on a big leadership role in the QRCA.
  • Help with another big QRCA Committee.
  • Assist a friend in designing a workshop.
  • Making lunch and dinner dates all over the place.

This is on top of actual, you know, WORK. And running AdoptingMamas with Karen. And being mom. And being a wife. And working with the Adoptive Parents Committee. And my Girl Scout Troop. And I’m sure there’s something I’m forgetting here.

But you know what? It keeps me out of trouble. At least that’s what I tell myself…
