Easter Joy

Alternate title – In Which Abby Does NOT Discover Firsthand Whether or Not There Is Truly Eternal Life After Death.

Abby got out on the wrong side of the bed yesterday morning.

Nothing seemed to be going quite right for her. Her cereal wasn’t to her liking, she didn’t want to put on her pretty Easter dress, she didn’t want to say “Happy Easter” to the people in Church. She insisted on being held/carried for the entire Mass. She refused to go potty before we left the house and then made me squeeze out of the packed pew to take her in the middle of Church. Stuff like that.

But, the Easter Bunny came through for her while she was making us crazy at Church anyway! He brought Abby a basket, and apparently had stopped at Emily’s house and left one for her there, too!

She got a crap-ton of candy (which brought more wailing when Mean Mommy said she couldn’t eat it all before breakfast), some bubbles, a tiara, a couple of balls and a cheap-o light-up bracelet.

That bunny didn’t hold back this year.

(Sorry for the atrocious photos, I left the camera on a  funky setting, I guess and I’m the only one who knows how to fix it.)

We tried very hard to get Abby to stand still for pictures in her beautiful dress, but, well, there was candy to eat and Grandma had promised waffles when she was done.

(Yes, my hair is pinkish purple. Isn’t it cute???)

After the traditional creme egg for breakfast, and a gallon of syrup on the new dress, Abby changed into a play dress and played outside with Daddy for an hour. Then she took a nap and played outside for another 2 hours. Then we ate a huge dinner (and in between the huge breakfast and the huge dinner, Jonathan and Emily had a huge lunch!).

We had lamb cupcakes for dessert and everyone was kind enough not to point out that they looked more like Easter puppies. Thanks, guys!

Check out the white-chocolate-shavings wool for realism! (Just ignore the cold, dead jelly bean eyes.)

Abby then went to bed, but didn’t go to sleep until close to 10 pm. I think it might have been the 50 or so jelly beans, but that’s just a guess.

And now, after a week of Spring Break and a loooooong Easter Day, she’s back in school where she belongs I miss her terribly and can’t wait for her to come home.
