This [...] SO late with this post, SORRY!! Saturday night was the Girl Scouts heart of the Hudson String of Pearls Dinner, at which I was honored. (Ugh past passive voice GAH! This, my friends is why I need to write more.) It was lovely, with a great venue, fantastic food, and really good ginger ale, [...] I’m a pearl. I’ve been a pearl for almost 2 weeks. But I didn’t know how to write about it. Because I’m embarrassed. Which is a really weird feeling for extremely extroverted me. I mean, I have taken my bra off and put it back on in a business meeting. (Not exactly – it [...] I keep finding little ways to stretch my creative thinking and facilitator muscles lately. Like last night, when the girls in my Girl Scout troop realized they needed a new banner for the Memorial Day Parade. When asked what they wanted on the banner the replies varied from “Dunno” to “Um, like, what about [...] First, and most imoportantly HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GIRL SCOUTS!! We turn 97 years old today and we look GOOD! And now on to the business at hand. I made a sort of quiet commitment to myself at some point to see if I could post to this blog at least 5 times a week. Looking [...] For such a short month, February sure has had a lot packed into it. I swear I’ve been on fast forward for 3 weeks straight. I’ve been to Miami, Chicago and home in between. Camping with teen Girl Scouts. Planning Abby’s birthday party (what? no I haven’t gotten the food decorations or favors figured [...] And I did! I ran a leadership retreat weekend for Girl Scouts ages 13 and up. And then I got this e-mail from a mom of one of the girls who is a Girl Scout leader herself. “Dear Missy, Valita had such a great time. Thank you. I hope these photos come across. I [...] How do you tie your shoelaces? Most likely you had to have someone show you countless times, practice a lot and finally, got it right once and never thought about it again. The same thing is true for brainstorming. There are rules and techniques and ways to keep yourself from limiting your ideas. Practice [...] I admit it, I’m spoiled.
