Did you know that my favorite holiday is coming up? It’s true. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year, closely followed by Christmas and my birthday. I love Thanksgiving – its reflective, thoughtful nature, its quiet, time-honored traditions, its obnoxiously upbeat and unapologetically sentimental parade, its piles and piles of damn fine food. This year, [...] It’s been a little crazy around here. Since I last posted, I’ve been to CPSI for a week, then to Rome for 4 days, then catching up on all the work that all that travel entails. I’m going to LA next week and then I’m home but busy until we leave on vacation. Once [...] Alternate title: My elbow hurts so I’m getting sinus surgery. I was reading through old posts last week (it’s something I do from time to time) and I noticed how often I talked about allergies or being sick or having a sinus infection. And reading it all in black and white helped me realize [...] What are things found in and around my house? What are things I can’t easily avoid? What are things Abby loves to stick her face into? What are things Abby is allergic to? If we were playing Jeopardy! those would all be correct responses. Abby and I went, oh, a couple weeks ago now [...] Guess what I am? Ten points for you if you guessed SICK! I woke up yesterday morning with the unmistakable signs of a severe sinus infection. Incredibly stuffy nose, pressure in my whole sinus area, irritated throat from the post-nasal drip, middle-of-the-night body aches and chills from a fever. Even my upper TEETH hurt, [...] As if to prove that things could always get worse, last night Abby broke my nose. For the second time in my life. We were playing an innocent, pre-dinner game of Tickle Monster with daddy in the titular role when she veered left and I veered right and SMASH goes Abby’s very hard forehead [...] Last night – or early this morning, depending on how you think of it – when it was beyond apparent that that decaf coffee was NOT, in fact decaffeinated, I started thingink about all thing things I wrote about here in March. You know, all 4of them. And I figured that I made it [...] Ow. I’ve been in near-constant pain for almost 2 weeks now. Trust me, it has been EXACTLY as fun as it sounds. I wake up hurting, go to sleep hurting and spend the time in between hoping I don’t hurt as much today as I did yesterday. I am often disappointed. The cause of [...] So in obsessively reading and re-reading the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, I came across the interesting factoid, that due to the size and design of the various Disney parks, one should be comfortable walking about 5-6 miles PER DAY without feeling as though one was going to fall into a potato-chip scented [...] Apparently, yes. Unlike most normal people who get a headache and are done with it, *I* get to have a headache and then an MRI to find out what’s causing it. Yay? Mostly this is because my neurologist is booked up until November and really, nobody thinks it’s a good idea to let headaches [...]  |
