I just [...] Tomorrow, Brian and I celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, because we apparently got married in utero. If you want to read about how we met, see yesterday’s post. We picked the date because it had been my grandparents’ anniversary. That, and it was over Labor Day weekend, leaving lots of time for out-of-town guests to hang [...] Brian and I will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary this week. This story is part of how that happened. I first laid eyes on him across a smoky dance floor in Paris. I was wearing a scarlet evening gown slit up to my ears, he looked incredibly dapper in his classic black tux. As soon [...] So, some of my bestest friends in the whole world are in a band called Pesky J. Nixon out of Boston. And said friends will be headlining at the world famous Caffe Lena in a few short weeks. Let me say that again so my point is not missed. I decided my relationship to the deceased was best described as my sister-in-law’s brother-in-law although there would be no court [...] Alternate title – In Which Abby Does NOT Discover Firsthand Whether or Not There Is Truly Eternal Life After Death. Abby got out on the wrong side of the bed yesterday morning. Nothing seemed to be going quite right for her. Her cereal wasn’t to her liking, she didn’t want to put on her pretty Easter dress, [...] Abby collects family the way most people collect refrigerator magnets. Don’t get me wrong. She knows Grandma Jane and Grandma Judy and loves them both dearly. And yet, after 15 minutes in her presence, she took to calling Brian’s step-Grandma (who she had never even heard of before) “Grandma Doris”. And wanted to hang out with [...] I had lunch with my awesome, amazing friend Mikki. I know it was a great lunch because my cheeks hurt from smiling when it was over. Our conversation was wide-ranging (as it always is). And, like always, I came away with a sense that all is right with the world as long as Mikki’s in [...] We just got back (almost a week ago) from a fun family vacation in Florida with the delightful Miss Abigail. No we didn’t go to Mickey’s place. Not this year anyways (hint, hint). Instead, we stayed in the Sarasota area at Grandma and Bapa’s new winter home. Our vacation started with a very early flight from [...] Answer: pretty kick-ass! We worked on the castle cake Friday night to make sure it was finished. (We meaning that I did the work, while Emily applauded and Jonathan offered suggestions and broke some of the ice cream cone turrets.) This is the fondant Princess who lives in the castle.
